eatNation Culinary Schools Contest: How to enter

Sharpen your knives, clear the sink, and tune up your mixer! This is your time to shine in the kitchen! Put in your profile, Find your fave recipe, snap a photo and submit it to eatNation's Culinary Schools Contest: ya gotta do it!

1. General Description

There are 2 categories, and the prizes are terrific! First, you can win for the best photograph of a recipe. Second, you can win for the best video of a recipe. First prize for each category is a $500 gift card from Chef's Catalog. Second prize for each category is a set of Anolon Advanced skillets and cutlery worth more than $400. Don't miss out!

2. Contest Period:

Anytime 24/7 until May 15, 2008.

3. Eligibility:

You gotta be 18 and a student, teacher, administrator or alumni of any cooking school in the 50 United States, the District of Columbia or Canada.

4. How to Enter:

a. put in your profile on eatNation. Upload a photograph of yourself.

b. Decide whether you're going for the Best Photograph of a Recipe or Best Video of a Recipe. (You can submit in both if you want!) If you choose Best Photograph of a Recipe Category, then:

  • 1. Put a recipe into your profile on eatNation.

  • 2. Snap a photo of the recipe

If you choose Best Video of a Recipe, then:

  • 1. Put recipe into your profile on eatNation.

  • 2. Take a video of the recipe.

(Note: If you choose to add music to your video, it must be original or royalty-free music. Some suggested sites for royalty-free music are: www.royaltyfreemusic.com, www.opuzz.com/free_tracks.asp, and www.incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free.)

c. Send an email to CulinarySchoolsContest@eatNation.com. In the email, tell us:

  • •    your name, date of birth, mailing address, email address, telephone number, and the name of the culinary school with whom you are affiliated (as a student, teacher, administrator or alumni); and

  • •    your eatNation user name, the name of the recipe which you uploaded (if applicable) and the type of media which you have uploaded, ie photograph or video (if applicable), for submission as an entry to the Culinary Schools Contest.

eatNation Culinary Schools Contest Official Rules

Thank you for your interest in eatNation's Culinary Schools Contest. Please read these rules (“Rules”) before entering eatNation's Culinary Schools Contest (“Culinary Schools Contest”). By submitting any content to the Culinary Schools Contest (“Entry”), you agree to be bound by these rules, as updated from time to time.

1. General Description of the eatNation Culinary Schools Contest

Entry in the eatNation Culinary Schools Contest is free, and no purchase is necessary to win.

The eatNation Culinary Schools Contest has two categories. Each category has a first and a second prize. The first category is for the best photograph of a recipe. The second category is for the best video of a recipe. The first prize for each category is a gift card from Chef's Catalog having $500 US in value. The second prize for each category is a set of Anolon Advanced skillets and cutlery valued at more than $400 US.

2. Contest Period:

The "Contest Period" for the eatNation's Culinary Schools contest runs from March 1, 2008 to May 15, 2008.

3. Eligibility:

The eatNation Culinary Schools Contest is offered to any person who: (1) is 18 years or older; (2) is a student, teacher, administrator or alumni of any cooking school in the 50 United States, the District of Columbia or Canada; (3) is a legal resident of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia or Canada; (4) posts a profile on eatNation; and (5) submits an Entry as discussed below, during the Contest Period.

This contest is void outside the 50 United States, the District of Columbia and Canada. This means that for example, residents of Puerto Rico, the province of Quebec, overseas U.S. territories, possessions, commonwealths and military installations are not eligible to participate, and residents of countries/places other than Canada, the District of Columbia and the 50 United States are not eligible. In addition, this contest is void wherever prohibited, licensed, restricted or taxed.

Employees, officers, directors, resellers, agents and representatives of eatNation and anyone connected with the production, hosting and distribution of this Contest (collectively, "Contest Entities"), their immediate family members, and members of any of their households are not eligible to enter or be awarded a prize.

Entrants must not be affiliated with commercial talent unions, such as, without limitation, the Screen Actors Guild.

4. How to Enter:

a. Create your profile on eatNation. Upload a photograph of yourself and add it to your profile.

b. Decide whether you want to submit an entry for the Best Photograph of a Recipe or Best Video of a Recipe. If you want to submit an entry for the Best Photograph of a Recipe Category, then:

  •     1.    Choose and upload a recipe into your profile on eatNation.

  •     2.    Take a photo of the recipe

    If you want to submit an entry for the Best Video of a Recipe, then:

  •     1.    Choose and upload a recipe into your profile on eatNation.

  •     2.    Take a video of the recipe.

(Note: If you choose to add music to your video, it must be original or royalty-free music. Some suggested sites for royalty-free music are: www.royaltyfreemusic.com, www.opuzz.com/free_tracks.asp, and www.incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free.)

    3.    Send an email to CulinarySchoolsContest@eatNation.com. In the email, tell us:

    •    your name, date of birth, mailing address, email address, telephone number, and the name of the culinary school with whom you are affiliated (as a student, teacher, administrator or alumni); and

    •    your eatNation user name, the name of the recipe which you uploaded (if applicable) and the type of media which you have uploaded, ie photograph or video (if applicable), for submission as an entry to the Culinary Schools Contest.

    4.    Winners will be notified by email from eatNation after May 15, 2008.

    5.    eatNation's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy shall also govern the Culinary Schools Contest.

    6.    Entries must be submitted by email to the email address above during the Contest Period. You may submit as many entries as you wish, but each one must be submitted to eatNation in a separate email to eatNation, as detailed above. However, you need not create more than one profile. This Contest is entered only via the Internet, and no other submissions by mail or otherwise will be considered.

Entries must:

  • • Be original;

  • • Be submitted solely by one entrant (this may be a group effort, but only one person may register and win);

  • • Not have been previously published, submitted in other contests or won previous awards; and

  • • Not infringe on the rights of any third party. Videos must not contain pornography, lewd or inappropriate activities, sexual or racial slurs or connotations, offensive language or any material that would be offensive to a group or to an individual. eatNation reserves the right to edit out any portion of a submitted video it deems unacceptable in its sole discretion prior to publication. eatNation reserves the right to disqualify any contest entry it deems to be inappropriate, in its sole determination, and will not engage in any form of communication or discussion with anyone who submits a video.

5. Entrant's Certification, Grant of Rights, and Representations

By entering this Contest, you explicitly:

  • •    Certify that you meet the eligibility requirements as set forth in these Rules;

  • •    Grant to eatNation and its affiliates, legal representatives, assigns, agents and licensees, the unconditional and perpetual right and permission to copyright (as applicable), reproduce, encode, store, copy, transmit, publish, post, broadcast, display, publicly perform, adapt, exhibit and or otherwise use or reuse (without limitation), any Entry to the Culinary Schools Contest, including but not limited to: (1) the biographical information that you provide, including your name, city and state, image, voice, and likeness (except street address, telephone number and email address) (the “Likeness”); (2) your photograph as included in your profile; (3) any statements, including emails, which you make about the Culinary Schools Contest, as well as any additional photographs, videos or statements relating to your participation in the Culinary Schools Contest; (4) all text in all submissions, including emails, and photographs or videos, as applicable, which form part of the Entry, in all media throughout the world for any purpose and without limitation, including, but not limited to, online displays, television, cable, video productions, wireless applications and other media channels and applications; to be used for advertising, promotions, other contests sponsored by the eatNation without further consent (unless you are a resident of TN) or compensation, or otherwise where prohibited by law, and without additional review or approval by you or any other party. In addition, you agree to irrevocably assign and transfer to eatNation and any contest sponsor any and all rights, title and interest in the content you provided eatNation as part of your Entry, including, without limitation, all copyrights and moral rights in any email, the recipe, photograph or video, as the case may be. In addition, you agree to grant eatNation and any contest sponsor the right to modify, adapt, sell, publish, use or not use the Entry in any way, in whole or in part, in any and all media now known or later . developed, without time, territorial limitations or compensation, except where prohibited by law, and you agree not to sue or assert any claim against eatNation for the use of the Entry or the use of your Likeness or statements made by you in connection with the Monthly Contest or your Entry;

  • •    Agree that eatNation, and any contest sponsor, or those acting on its behalf, may photograph and film you and use such photographs and film for all advertising, promotional, trade and other purposes and in all media, including, but not limited to, newspapers, magazines, online displays, television, cable, video productions, online access, wireless applications and other media channels and applications without further consent (unless you are a resident of TN) or compensation, except where prohibited by law;

  • •    Represent and warrant that you have the right to grant to eatNation the rights described above in the submitted Entry;

  • •    Certify that you are not affiliated with commercial talent unions including without limitation, the Screen Actors Guild (SAG);

  • •    Represent and warrant that you have not used licensed material or any material owned by someone other than you in your Entry, including, without limitation, music, graphics or artwork, without said owner's permission (unless the content is royalty free music as discussed in How to Enter, above); and

  • •    Represent and warrant that your Entry is original and you have not copied or plagiarized the concept for your video from other material. In addition, you explicitly warrant that the images, likenesses and voices used in your Entry are of people who have consented to be included in your Entry. If the submitted video was taken by a professional videographer or anyone other than you, you must demonstrate that the videographer has granted you the right to publish, reproduce and otherwise display the video by providing a signed copyright release.

6. Winner Selection:

    •    Each Entry will be judged by eatNation and the contest winners will be selected by eatNation, In scoring, eatNation will consider

  • •    creativity;

  • •    originality; and

  • •    general entertainment quality.

    •    Winners are selected once a month and winners will be contacted and announced at the beginning of the following month.

7. Prizes:

The first prize for each category is a gift card from Chef's Catalog having $500 US in value. The second prize for each category is a set of Anolon Advanced skillets and cutlery valued at more than $400 US.

8. General:

Contest administration and verification will be supervised by eatNation. All decisions are final. By participating in this Contest, you agree to be bound by these Rules.

eatNation and any contest sponsors shall not have any liability for any lost, late, illegible, misdirected, incomplete or garbled entries, for incomplete capture of Entry information, for any technical, hardware, software, telephone, Internet, virus contamination, network, human error, electronic malfunctions, or any other problems; or for delay, failure or malfunction for any reason. All Entries become the property of eatNation and shall not be acknowledged or returned. eatNation shall have no liability for damage caused to entrant's or any other person's/entity's computer hardware, software or communications network, regardless of cause.

eatNation reserves the right to terminate, cancel or modify the Culinary Schools Contest or to disqualify any entrant if, in eatnation's sole judgment, it determines that the integrity or fairness of the Contest has been, or could be, compromised or that the Contest is not capable of running as planned or fairly, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention (hacking), fraud, technical failures, force majeure or any other cause.

By entering the Culinary Schools Contest, each entrant explicitly releases, discharges and holds harmless eatNation, its contest sponsors, and each of their respective affiliated companies, directors, officers, employees, agents, from any liability whatsoever for any claims, costs injuries, losses or damages of any kind, in law or equity, which he/she now has or may acquire, by reason of any personal injury, death, loss of or damage to property, or any reason, occurring during or arising out of his/her participation in the Culinary Schools Contest, including the acceptance and use or misuse of a prize (including, without limitation claims, costs, injuries, death, damage to or destruction of a property, rights of publicity or privacy, defamation or portrayal in a false light). Neither eatNation nor any contest sponsor shall be responsible for any printing or any typographical errors associated with the Culinary Schools Contest. Except where prohibited by law, by entering the Culinary Schools Contest, each entrant hereby waives any right he/she may have to a trial by jury and agrees that any and all disputes, claims, actions and causes of action arising out of or connected with the Culinary Schools Contest or the prize awarded and all issues and questions concerning the validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Rules and other documents shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, according to the provisions of the Terms of Use.

By accepting a prize, each winner waives the right to:

  • •    Assert as a cost of winning the prize any and all costs of verification and redemption or travel to redeem said prize; and

  • •    Claim any liability (including attorney's fees and costs) which might arise from redeeming or seeking to redeem said prize (including any travel related thereto). If a prize winner is less than 21 years of age, an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability and Publicity Release will have to be signed by a parent or legal guardian of said person before the relevant prize may be provided.

eatNation makes no warranty, guarantee or representation of any kind concerning the Culinary Schools Contest or any prize and disclaims any express or implied warranty, including the warranty of fitness for a particular purpose. The right to receive the prize is non-assignable and non-transferable and no prize substitution, transfer, or exchange will be allowed except by eatNation who reserves the right to substitute a prize (or portion of prize) of equal or greater value in case of unavailability of the prize. A prize or prize notification that is returned as undeliverable will disqualify the winner and an alternative winner may be chosen by eatNation in its sole discretion.

9. Provisions:

If any provision of this Contest shall be deemed to violate any federal, state, provincial or municipal law, it shall be amended to conform to such law and all other provisions shall remain in full force and effect. All federal, state, provincial and local laws and regulations apply. All taxes are each winner's responsibility; the value of the prize will be treated as ordinary income to prize recipient for income tax purposes and an IRS Form 1099 for the year 2007 will be sent to winners of prizes valued over $600.

10. Personal Information:

eatNation collects personal information from you when you enter the Contest. The information collected is subject to Paragraph Four above and eatNation's Privacy Policy. In case of any conflict between these Official Rules and our Privacy Policy, the terms of these Rules shall prevail.
